Латвия заинтересована в инвестициях ОАЭ в производство, финансовую сферу и транспорт

Kак сообщил LETA пресс-секретарь премьера Мартиньш Панке, представители латвийской делегации, в том числе президентairBaltic Мартин Гаусс и представители компании Prudentia, встречались с руководством авиакомпаний Etihad Airways иEmirates Airlines, договорившись продолжить двусторонние переговоры о возможном сотрудничестве.

Также латвийская делегация встречалась с представителями правительственного инвестиционного фонда Abu Dhabi InvestmentAuthority, посетила порт Джабель-Али, где встречалась с представителями одной из ведущих в мире компаний по контейнерным перевозкам DP World.

Домбровскис во время встреч призвал руководство ОАЭ при планировании инвестиций рассмотреть в качестве возможного места для вложения средств, а также указал на необходимость упростить визовый режим с Латвией.

Визит премьера и сопровождающей делегации в ОАЭ длился с 10 по 12 марта, а до 15 марта Домбровскис будет находиться в Катаре. В поездке премьера сопровождает делегация из 43 предпринимателей.

During the visit to the Arab countries – the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, together with the Latvian entrepreneurs, and meetings with the high ranking officials and entrepreneurs of these countries, the foundations have been laid for breakthrough in economic relations between Latvia and the Gulf states.

In the business forums held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha, the Latvian entrepreneurs have managed to arouse interest of the Arabs in the opportunities for cooperation with Latvia in the area of wood processing, transport, logistics, finance, food production, agriculture, real estate, as well as in other sectors.

In Qatar and the UAE, the representatives of Latvia often heard the statement that the Arab partners are ready to speak about concrete cooperation projects with Latvia and are interested to access the markets of the EU and Russia through Latvia.

Ahmad Mohammed Al-Sayed, Chairman of the Board of the Qatar state investment company Qatar Holding, which manages Qatar’s investments in more than 30 countries expressed willingness to familiarize in detail with the investment opportunities in the real estate and financial sectors in Latvia.

During the meetings with companies Qatar Petroleum and the world’s largest supplier of liquefied gas Qatargas, the negotiations on the possible cooperation in the Baltic region’s liquefied gas terminal project have started. Nasser Mohammed Al Fuhaid Al Hajri, manager of company Hassad Food, which invests in the production of agricultural and livestock products, confirmed the readiness to send a team of experts to Latvia who will familiarize themselves with the opportunities provided in Latvia.

During the meetings with the Prime Minister of Latvia, both, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE,  Emir of the State of Qatar and Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Al Thani and Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar expressed their support for establishing closer economic relations. During the visit, Latvia and the UAE signed the Draft Convention between the Government of the Republic of Latvia and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital and the work on such agreement also between Latvia and Qatar is underway. Latvia plans to appoint non-residing ambassador in this country. V.Dombrovskis also extended an invitation to the high ranking officials of the UAE and Qatar to visit Latvia.

Within the framework of the visit, the meetings of representatives of the Latvian national airline airBaltic and airlines Etihad Airways, Fly Emirates and Qatar Airways were held and the agreement has been reached with all the airlines to continue bilateral consultations with a view to analyze the opportunities for mutual cooperation.

From March 10-12, the Prime Minister and entrepreneurs paid a visit to the UAE, while on March 12-15 visited Qatar. During the visit to the Middle East, the Prime Minister was accompanied by a delegation of 43 entrepreneurs representing 33 companies of the following sectors: education, finance, IT, wood processing, transport and logistics, construction and real estate, energy, metal processing, food production, medical services etc.
