In today’s state Latvijas Vestnesis newspaper, President Valdis Zatlers has officially promulgated amendments to the Immigration Law. The amendments will come into force on July 1, 2010.

Five-year temporary residence permits will be available to persons who buy property in Riga with a total transaction value of no less than LVL 100,000, or a property outside Riga where total value of transaction is no less than LVL 50,000.

The Saeima also decided to prolong the period of reviewing applications for temporary residency permits, so the authorities would have more time for examining applicant’s background.
